the applicability of crowdlaw as a tool for exercising brazilian environmental citizenship

Abstract

The insertion of contemporary society into cyberspace has brought about significant advances for human life. From a digital law perspective, this phenomenon has also led to the engagement of communities in issues of interest to them, even internationally. Thus, the research topic focuses on environmental movements carried out in virtual networks, with a focus on the use of crowdlaw as a means of bringing the population closer to political and legislative processes. In this sense, the present study focused on the theme involving the intersection of Digital Activism and Environmental Law, and, in a limited way, on the role of the crowdlaw tool for the exercise of environmental citizenship. The main objective was to analyze the role of Digital Activism through the use of this tool in the exercise of Brazilian environmental citizenship. In order to guide the research, the following main problem was established: to what extent does the practice of crowdlaw contribute to the strengthening of environmental citizenship in Brazil? Specifically, the following objectives were targeted: a) to verify the constitutional and principled provisions of Environmental Law and the Right to Citizenship; b) to study the evolution of socio-environmental rationality since the increase in Digital Activism; and c) to examine the applicability of crowdlaw to promote citizen engagement in environmental awareness. The research methodology was based on a four-part approach: a systemic-complex approach, theories based on Systems Theory and Complexity Theory, a literature review procedure, and creating files on the main references as research technique.
