Abstract

Ankyloglossia is a condition that requires an interdisciplinary approach, especially in the context of postoperative management, making it essential to understand the specific contributions of Speech-Language Pathology and Pediatric Dentistry in this process. Aim: To present a scoping review protocol aimed at mapping the contributions of Speech-Language Pathology and Pediatric Dentistry to the postoperative management of ankyloglossia. Methods: This scoping review will follow the methodological guidelines of the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) and the recommendations of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis Protocols – extension for scoping reviews (PRISMA-ScR). The databases to be used include: MedLine via PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, LILACS, and EMBASE, using controlled vocabulary terms ("entry terms"). Grey literature will be searched through ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Citation Index (via Web of Science), LIVIVO, and Google Scholar. A search strategy was initially developed for MedLine via PubMed and subsequently adapted for the other databases. The Rayyan web software (Qatar Computing Research Institute, Doha, Qatar) will be used for the screening of documents by title and abstract, independently performed by two reviewers, based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Then, the full texts will be read and analyzed according to the same criteria. Metadata will be extracted using a standardized form. The results will be presented in a flowchart and a narrative summary, following the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Final Considerations: It is expected that the scoping review resulting from this protocol will provide an overview of the current scientific evidence and identify research gaps that need to be addressed on the topic.
