Abstract

Introduction: In 2001, the World Health Organization (WHO) created a new health classification, with the aim of providing a standardized and universal language, called the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). Objective: This study aims to analyze the themes of publications on ICF focused on physiotherapy in the last five years (2018-2022) that had the participation of Brazilian researchers. Methodology: The search was carried out in Pubmed, ScIELO, PEDro and BVS databases, using the following search terms: CIF, ICF, International Classification of functioning disability and Heath, Classificação Internacional de Incapacidade funcionalidade e saúde, Brazil, Brazilian, Brasil, Brazilian Research. Results: As a result of the research, two studies were identified that used the ICF to assess what were the barriers and facilitators in the treatment of patients with Zika virus, three authors researched ICF Core Sets using them as an evaluation method or researching their reproducibility, two studies investigated the knowledge about the ICF of academics and professionals from CREFITO-4, nine articles used the ICF as an evaluation guide through checklists, seven authors used this classification to describe the profile of certain types of patients. Conclusion: The ICF is widely used for scientific production guiding global aspects of individuals' health, daily use in the clinic and complementing assessments, demonstrating the complexity of its use.
