Introduction: The global and Brazilian scenario of obesity presents a new challenge for public health, since its presence and prevalence are increasing alarmingly in the last 30 years. Objective: To identify the anthropometric profile of children in a public school in Divinópolis, Minas Gerais, obese and overweight students were submitted to functional capacity test. Methodology: A research involves 48 children / adolescents from elementary school II, from a public school in the city. We included all students with ICF enrolled by the guardian, filling out the Food Consumption Markers Form, where each student had an evaluation form filled out by the evaluator with an anthropometric profile using Z-BMI and underwent a Balke Bank test. Results: According to the data obtained, 79% of students were classified as eutrophic, 21% were overweight / obese and 48% did not practice any type of physical activity. The results presented and the studies that already exist, highlight a negative relationship that overweight / obesity has on the functional capacity of students. I see that this research area presents an important summary and explained in other studies. Conclusion: Similarity was found between the health and anthropometric profile of students in this age group and an inverse relationship between obesity and functional capacity.
