Abstract

Introduction: The environmental impacts of human activities are due to high industrial production and consumption. Governmental organizations, industries and scholars seek more sustainable solutions for products with the challenge of balancing the extraction of raw materials, industrialization, cost, consumption and recycling. However, due to the long-term effect on the environment by the emission of greenhouse gases, the automotive industry stands out on the world stage with initiatives in this issue. The development of products through ecodesign presents itself as a viable tool to contribute to sustainability - environmental dimension, as long as it is implemented in the supply chain with the support of the customer. Objective: to evaluate the perception of experts in product and process development regarding the integration of environmental aspects of ecodesign in the quality engineering activities of the customer's suppliers and their implementation in the supply chain. Methodology: sending a questionnaire to customer companies and suppliers in the Brazilian automotive sector. Results: the survey obtained a participation of 79% of the companies and provided valuable information on the subject in question. Conclusion: experts in product and process development approve the integration of environmental aspects into the quality engineering activities of suppliers as a viable alternative for achieving more sustainable products.
